Pick a species from a list instead of typing it
The Common Name field is now a searchable picker. Type a few letters, pick the species, and the scientific name fills in for you. Per-photo suggestions surface at the top, and free text still works.

When the AI is not sure what a tree is, you no longer have to type the whole name. On the tree edit screen, the Common Name field is now a searchable picker. Type “oak,” “mesq,” or “palm” and the matching species come up with their scientific names. Tap one and both fields fill in.
When the app has a best guess for that exact photo, it shows up under Suggested at the top of the list. Not on the list? Tap Use “...” to keep whatever you typed. Nothing is forced onto the list, and you can still edit the scientific name.
This came straight from field feedback: “it would be nice to have a drop down so you can select the name and it fills in the rest.” That is exactly what this is.
