Getting Started
Sign up, capture your first tree, and generate your first report — the whole loop in under five minutes.
Tree Inventory AI runs on your phone in the field. Sign up, walk a property, capture trees, generate a report. This page gets you from zero to a finished property report in about five minutes.
Quick Start
- Sign up at app.treeinventory.ai on your phone.
- Add a customer and a property address.
- Tap the green + button. Take a photo of a tree. The app handles GPS, species, and measurements automatically.
- Repeat for every tree on the property.
- Tap Generate Report. You get a PDF you can send to the client.
That's the whole loop. The rest of this page walks through each step in detail.
Install the app
The mobile app is the primary interface. Capturing trees from a desktop browser is slow and error-prone — phones have GPS, cameras, and you're already holding one in the field.
Download the app
- iOS: search "Tree Inventory AI" in the App Store, or open the listing directly.
- Android: install via the Play Store (currently in review — link goes live shortly).
- A web version exists at app.treeinventory.ai for the dashboard, customer/site management, and PDF previews.
Create an account
Sign up with email + password or Google. Email confirmation arrives as a 6-digit code — type it into the app, no clicking links in your inbox.
Name your organization
The first time you sign in, you'll see a banner asking you to name your organization. This is what shows up on every PDF report you generate. Tap it, type the name, save.
Capture your first tree
Add a customer and address
On the home screen, tap Add customer. Name + email. Then add an address — that's the property you're inventorying.
A customer can have multiple addresses (one for the residence, another for a rental property). Trees belong to addresses, not customers.
Open the address
Tap the address from the customer view. You land on the property's tree list — empty for now.
Tap the green + button
Bottom-right corner. The camera opens. Take a photo of the tree.
The app captures your GPS coordinates automatically. No manual entry.
Wait for AI analysis
Within a few seconds: species (e.g. Quercus rubra — Northern Red Oak), estimated DBH, height, condition, and recommended actions. Edit any field if the AI is wrong.
Generate your first report
Once you've captured a few trees on the property:
From the address view, tap Generate Report
The app builds a PDF: cover page with property address, one section per tree (photo, species, measurements, condition, recommendations), and a property-wide summary.
Share the PDF
- Email it directly to the customer
- Save to Files / Drive
- Print it
- Send via the system share sheet
Reports are also accessible from the web dashboard at app.treeinventory.ai, so you can pull historical reports without digging through your phone.
Common Questions
Do I need to be online to capture trees? For the v1 mobile app, yes — AI analysis runs in the cloud. Offline capture is on the roadmap but not shipped yet.
What happens to old photos when I take a new one? Nothing. Every photo is preserved. The current photo (the one displayed) is what the AI analyzes and what appears in the report.
Can multiple arborists work on the same property? Yes — invite team members from the Team page on the web dashboard. Everyone on your org sees the same customers, addresses, and trees.
